Big News That Was Worth the Wait!

It has been an incredibly long time but that’s because we have been soooo busy over here in our neck of the woods! Some highlights since we last chatted: Nail Taxi has worked 19+ shows/events/presentations at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York and in Miami. We have attended and spoken at conferences and workshops in Atlanta (Spark & Hustle) and National Harbor, MD (Blogalicious 2011) and met some awesome ladies in the process!

But the biggest news is that Nail Taxi has gone INTERNATIONAL! Nail Taxi Bahamas opened on October 30 and I was able to find a small window to travel to Nassau for the grand opening party and let me tell you, it was fabulous! Congratulations to Georgette and her stellar team. I expect great things from Nail Taxi Bahamas and am excited for what’s to come.

Question of the Month?!?!?!?

That’s right. Not Question of the Day or even Question of the Week. This is the Question of the Month. There are a couple of reasons for that. Number one, this is a very busy month for all of us and I will not be posting another question within seven days so this way I am covered. Number two, this is a very good question and you should feel free to post on it all month and beyond as you see fit.

Why do clients insist on balling up your gratuity instead of placing the money in your hand? Why not just lay the money in your hand?

The idea behind giving a tip is to show gratuity, right?! Why are clients making origami out of paper currency and stuffing in the hands of their service providers? I am so baffled by this.

Any ideas as to why this happens? Is it shame…are the clients embarrassed by the amount they are giving? A gratuity is a gift. You don’t have to give anything and I appreciate it whether you give me $2 or $40. My thank you is sincere regardless of the amount.

Do your clients place a closed fist of money in your hand or do they lay flattened bills in your hand? How do you tip others? Do you ball up your gift? Fold it over once or lay it flat? Inquiring minds want to know.

Falling into Fall – Colors to Make You Swoon

I hate to be the one to tell you but we are well into Fall. And we all know that the holiday season has offically arrived as soon as Halloween leaves. Of course, holiday decorations will show up by the end of this week but after Halloween everything becomes a blur until “Happy New Year” rings in the air!

Something that helps me to slow my pace and enjoy this fantastic time of year is polishing my nails. I am guaranteed at least 45 minutes of calm as it takes the polish that long to dry. (NOTE: Do not rush the drying process. That’s how you end up with jacked up nails, trying to text and answer the phone three minutes after applying topcoat. SMH)

Here are some gorgeous polishes that I am definitely going to try this season. I encourage you to try some new colors this season. If you do branch out of your comfort zone, let us know. We’d love to know what you are wearing on yournails. Happy polishing!
